Thank you to the Fiondra Baldwin, Brianna Smith, Courtney Williams and the ECU School of Dental Medicine’s (SoDM) chapter of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA) for visiting the shelter on Wednesday, May 26th. This chapter of the SNDA has partnered with the ECU School of Dental Medicine to celebrate a Day of Unity on Friday, May 14th, to honor the differences among people and to encourage dialogue on diversity and racism. While racism has been pervasive throughout American history, COVID-19 has amplified awareness of the barriers it creates for underrepresented populations. The school's mission is to amplify diverse voices while serving the underserved, this Day of Unity will voice and show that although we are a diverse community of individuals at ECU SoDM we are unified in serving the communities of North Carolina. In honor of this event, the ECU SNDA thought it would be great to have this day to promote a culture of unity amongst the ECU SoDM community with the sale of a t-shirt promoting diversity and inclusion. As part of the SNDA’s continued efforts to serve our community our organization has chosen the Community Crossroads Center as our philanthropic partner. They donated a portion of their proceeds and much needed supplies to Community Crossroads Center and its mission as part of their fundraising efforts. They recognize the mission and community impact of CCC to serve the homeless and those at risk of homelessness, especially during these critical moments.
