Two high school students use their passion for leadership to fight homelessness

In order to help fight homelessness, the dynamic duo of Madison Donnewirth and Chandler Rouse, two students from South Central High School, decided to select the Greenville Community Shelter as a partner for a leadership class they were taking. Chandler and Madison planned and carried out a golf tournament at the Ayden Golf and Country Club. With a little help from family and friends they met with the club, found sponsors for each hole and directed this fundraiser.

A volunteer helps fight homelessness by providing service in the form of cleaning and painting.

In addition to the golf outing they also helped the Shelter by bringing a team of volunteers on October 18th who sorted out and cleaned the pantry and mopped the floors of the kitchen. They also worked with a local Girl Scout troop to make blankets for Shelter residents. This may have been part of a class on leadership but we feel they are leaders in every sense of the word and we can’t wait to see what they are involved in next.
