Students Give Back to Community: ECU Act of Social Responsibity

Students give back to community: thanks to East Carolina University, Greenville Community Shelter received much needed items recently. Students in Charlie Brown and Holly Winkers' Business 2200 class as well as The National Society of Collegiate Scholars were recently challenged to perform an act of social responsibility. This group of students decided to focus on the issue of homelessness within the Pitt County Community. Students reached out to friends, family, and strangers to raise money to buy much needed supplies for the shelter. Once the students reached their goal they purchased items and personally delivered them to the shelter. While at the shelter students toured the facilities and spoke with some of the residents in the Shelter. Upon returning back to the classroom they shared their act of social responsibility and stories from the residents. This assignment challenged college students to take time to give back to the community and allowed them to see first hand the issues that surround them. These students took on the act of social responsibility and gave back to their local community in a time of need.
