Helping the Homeless: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Giving Blankets to Give Back

Our Redeemer Lutheran Church was part of a nationwide mission of Lutheran churches who recently were asked to do something special for the needy in their community. The Greenville church decided to focus on helping the homeless by making blankets for the residents of our shelter. Mary and Betty shared that church members ranging from age six to eighty participated in the blanket project. They created the blankets by simply cutting the fabric and tying knots.

Our Center is similar to a 110-bed hotel, so as you can imagine we are always in need of linens, including blankets. As the weather gets colder, our residents need more linens to stay warm. The average winter temperature is 42 degrees in the Greenville Area, which is very cold to most of our residents. This blanket project is a fun way for people of all ages to get involved in helping the homeless. We are always looking to our community organizations to help our center in a variety of ways. The blanket project is a small thing that can make a big impact among our residents. If you or your organization are interested in finding ways to give back to your community, there are a multitude of ways that you can give back, including volunteering and giving needed items, such as blankets. Thanks to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Greenville, NC for your heartfelt gift and your hard work in helping the homeless!
