Donation from the State Employees Association of North Carolina

Lynn Tuthill, the community affairs chairman approached our own Casey Holland a few months ago during a volunteer opportunity. They spoke about the shelter’s needs and about the new building we were excited about building, which is now a reality! Lynn is part of District 65’s Executive Board with State Employees Association of North Carolina. SEANC is active in the community by working with organizations Ronald McDonald House, Riley's Army, and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. After talking with Casey, Lynn went back to the SEANC membership and put the Shelter in as a community service to fund. In June State Employees Association of North Carolina notified us that we would be receiving a check at the next meeting. The shelter was presented with a $500 check from SEANC on June. Our budget is 80% funded by individuals, businesses, and churches. These donations cover insurance, salaries, utilities, maintenance, repairs, and when possible funds to help those who need a one-time monetary gift that keeps them from actually becoming homeless. Our cost per night per resident is $25 and we have an average of 65 residents per night. We continue to be thrilled to receive such amazing support from other local organizations who want to see their local community grow and organizations succeed. If you’d like to give back to the homeless community you can donate items from our wish list, have a fundraiser, or volunteer your time at Community Crossroads Center, (formerly, The Greenville Community Shelter). As we settle into our new building we'd love to have you volunteer with us.
