The impact of the Community Crossroads Center on the City of Greenville is much greater than just providing a place for homeless citizens to sleep. As the past 10 years have shown, hardship can fall unexpectedly on both individuals and families, but there are always opportunities to magnify your impact amongst others. In some cases, the CCC provides an emergency shelter for young children, parents, adults, the elderly, and the disabled. What many do not realize is that the CCC also helps those in need to overcome the hardships in their life by providing them with the tools needed to become productive citizens within the community. Here are some statistics about the CCC that you might not know:

  • We've seen a 90% increase in the number of children served
  • We've been open for 28 years, 365 days a year
  • Last year we provided 24,633 bed nights
  • Last year we served 508 different individuals
  • Last year we served over 45,000 meals
  • We are a non-profit agency, not city, county, or state operated and owned
  • We operate 2 supportive housing programs and one transitional housing program
  • Everyone is breathalyzed each night before entry
  • All housekeeping at the Center is done by residents
  • Our new facility was built last year purely through donations and grants

Those within the shelter are encouraged to better themselves and turn their lives around. They are given the opportunity to focus on getting a job and providing for themselves and their families. As a result, individuals, both young and old, realize their potential and become a positive impact on the community. In the non-profit world we call this "magnify your impact." Rather than giving a hungry person a fish, you teach them to fish so they can feed themselves. The Community Crossroads Center is a safe haven for those struggling to make ends meet. It gives parents the ability to provide for their family without having to worry about a meal or shelter for a night. It allows individuals who are without work due to layoffs or closures to start new and secure another job. It allows those who are disabled, who cannot physically or mentally obtain a job, to have a place to call home. The main goal of the CCC is to prevent those who use the facilities from actually becoming homeless and this is made possible by donations from readers like you.

Do you want to help individuals and families in need?

Come out to our fundraiser, "Homeless Knights," on May 23rd located at Dickinson Avenue Public House for a night of fellowship and fun. With your small donation of $25, you magnify your impact on our local community by keeping one person off of the street for one night. Together we can help prevent homelessness and provide an opportunity for a better life.
