Helping the Community: ECU Students Help Rebuild

Recently a group of East Carolina University students participated in Make a Difference Day through the Leadership and Service-Learning Center at their school. As part of their service, they helped Rebuilding Together restore part of our old building where our shelter used to be housed. Rebuilding Together now occupies space on the ground floor of the two-story building. They are a non-profit organization that repairs and rehabilitates homes and non-profit community facilities. They also help homeowners who are unable to maintain their homes.

The students helped Rebuilding Together repurpose our old building by putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls and by cleaning up the space.

We want to highlight the hard work of all of our student volunteers to show the significant ways they are helping the community. Volunteers are always needed in non-profit organizations but it shows great initiative when volunteers sign up on their own for volunteer opportunities. The difference you can make in someone else's life just by volunteering for a few hours is huge and it is great that ECU is helping get their students involved. Without our volunteers and donors, the Community Crossroads Center would be far from where it is now.

Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes and can help non-profits in a multitude of ways. If you are interested in volunteering with the CCC, please contact us to get more information and to get started.

The CCC is proud to see our old space transitioning into a new space for such a great cause. We are glad that our old space can be used to help others through Rebuilding Together. We are excited to see the space benefit their organization and to see what great things they can do for our community.
