Another Way to Fight Homelessness: Local Honor Society Helps Move Furniture

Volunteers from the health pre-professional honor society Alpha Epsilon Delta helped out at the Center on Saturday, September 12th by moving furniture and other items in preparation for occupancy of our old administration building by new community partners. It was hot, dirty work and our crew did a marvelous job. A special thank you for coming out on Saturday morning and making a difference for us.

Homeless shelters like the Center always need help in the form of charitable donations, but there are other ways to support those in need. These ways can include:

  • Donating your time by volunteering
  • Donating professional services such as building maintenance or accounting help
  • Working with residents to mentor them in a special skill you possess, such as how to balance a checkbook or how to create a resume

Remember: homeless shelters exist by the whim of society, meaning that without caring volunteers, they will cease to exist. Right now the Center houses over 75 individuals who truly have nowhere else to go. We are largely supported in our efforts to fight homelessness by caring members of churches, community organizations, and student groups. To learn more about help the Center needs, please visit our volunteer page.
